Organic Beer Brewing:
Organic beer is made in the traditional manner from pure water, barley malt, hops, and yeast. No chemical additives or genetically modified substances are used. Organic certification requires production facilities be routinely inspected to ensure compliance.
Sustainable Winemaking:
Sustainable winemaking practices consist of using natural fertilizers, composting and the cultivation of plants that attract beneficial insects while doing everything to limit the carbon footprint in the vineyard. Growers abstain from using man-made chemicals and artificial fertilizers.
Organic Winemaking:
Organic winemaking incorporates all the basics of sustainable winemaking while going one step further with some very significant differences. Organic wines are produced by using only organically grown grapes. Use of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, chemical fertilizer or synthetic chemicals are not allowed on the vines or in the soil. Strict rules govern the winemaking process. The grapes are harvested by hand, the vineyards are plowed by hand or horses, and only indigenous yeasts are used during fermentation. Organic wine may have naturally occurring sulfites, but the total sulfite level must be less than 20 parts per million in order to receive organic certification. |
